Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 10 September 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to electrical services provided by FJ Projects to residential and commercial customers.

By requesting, booking or accepting services from FJ Projects, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, together with any quote, proposal, scope of works or other written agreement provided for your project.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies available to you under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

1. Our Services

FJ Projects provides electrical services including, but not limited to:

  • electrical repairs and fault finding;

  • power points, switches and electrical outlets;

  • lighting installations and upgrades;

  • ceiling and exhaust fans;

  • smoke alarms and electrical safety equipment;

  • electrical upgrades and improvements;

  • renovation and extension electrical work;

  • new builds and larger residential projects; and

  • other electrical work agreed between FJ Projects and the customer.

The services available may vary depending on the nature of the work, location, licensing requirements, availability and safety considerations.

FJ Projects may decline or cease work where the requested work is unsafe, unlawful, outside our licensing or competency requirements, or cannot reasonably be completed to the required standard.

2. Quotes and Estimates

Where practical, FJ Projects will provide a quote or estimated price before work begins.

Quotes are provided based on the information available to us at the time and are intended to provide a reasonable and informed indication of the expected cost of the work.

Some work can be quoted remotely based on information and photographs provided by the customer. Other work may require an onsite assessment before an accurate quote can be provided.

Where an onsite assessment is required, a call-out or attendance fee may apply, depending on the location and nature of the appointment. Any applicable fee will be communicated before the appointment is confirmed.

Quotes are generally provided free of charge unless otherwise stated.

Unless otherwise specified, quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued.

A quote does not include work outside the stated scope unless expressly agreed.

3. Accepting a Quote

A quote may be accepted by written confirmation, electronic acceptance, email, text message or another method agreed between FJ Projects and the customer.

Once accepted, the quoted scope of work and agreed pricing will form the basis of the project.

FJ Projects will not commence quoted work until the customer has provided appropriate consent to proceed.

4. Pricing and Charges

Depending on the nature of the work, FJ Projects may price services using one or more of the following:

  • hourly labour;

  • fixed or quoted pricing;

  • materials and products;

  • applicable travel or call-out charges;

  • minimum labour or attendance charges;

  • equipment or specialist service costs; and

  • other reasonable costs directly associated with completing the work.

The applicable pricing structure will be communicated to the customer before or during the engagement, as appropriate.

Pricing may vary depending on the complexity, duration, location, materials and requirements of the work.

5. Call-Out and Travel Charges

A call-out or attendance fee may apply where FJ Projects is required to attend a property, particularly where an onsite assessment, fault finding or other attendance is required.

Call-out and travel charges are based on the location and circumstances of the job and may increase with distance.

As a general guide, out-of-metropolitan work may attract a higher attendance or travel charge, with charges determined according to the distance and practical requirements of the job.

For genuine regional or country locations, FJ Projects may establish a separate agreed travel or attendance charge based on the location rather than applying a standard metropolitan distance calculation.

Any applicable call-out or travel charge will be communicated to the customer before attendance wherever reasonably possible.

6. Additional Work and Variations

FJ Projects will not intentionally undertake additional chargeable work outside the agreed scope without first communicating the issue and obtaining the customer's consent to proceed.

Where additional work is identified, FJ Projects will explain the issue and, where reasonably possible, provide the customer with the available options, associated costs and implications.

The customer may choose whether to proceed with additional work.

Approval may be provided in writing, including by text message or email, and will form part of the project record.

Where urgent action is reasonably necessary to prevent an immediate safety risk or further damage, FJ Projects may take reasonable steps permitted by law and will communicate with the customer as soon as practicable.

7. Communication and Project Records

FJ Projects aims to maintain clear and transparent communication throughout every job.

Depending on the nature of the work, we may maintain project records including:

  • quotes and proposals;

  • customer communications;

  • photographs;

  • job notes;

  • approvals and variations;

  • invoices;

  • product and material information; and

  • relevant compliance or service documentation.

Customers will be kept informed of significant issues, changes, additional costs and available options where reasonably possible.

8. Materials and Products

FJ Projects may supply materials and products required to complete the work.

The products and materials selected will depend on the requirements of the job, availability, suitability, compliance and customer preferences.

Where appropriate, FJ Projects may provide customers with options at different price points or with different features.

Materials and products supplied by FJ Projects will be charged as set out in the applicable quote or invoice.

9. Customer-Supplied Products

FJ Projects may install customer-supplied electrical products where the product is considered suitable and compliant for installation.

FJ Projects reserves the right to refuse installation of a product where it is unsafe, unsuitable, defective, non-compliant, incompatible or otherwise inappropriate for the proposed installation.

Where a customer specifically requests installation of a product despite concerns identified by FJ Projects, FJ Projects may require written acknowledgement of the customer's decision and the limitations associated with the product.

FJ Projects is not responsible for defects, failures or performance issues arising from a product supplied by the customer, except where caused by FJ Projects' own workmanship or otherwise required by law.

10. Electrical Safety and Compliance

Electrical work must be completed in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, standards and licensing requirements.

If FJ Projects identifies existing electrical work that is unsafe, defective, non-
compliant or otherwise unsuitable for the requested work, we may be required to refuse or pause the requested work.

Where this occurs, FJ Projects will communicate the issue to the customer and, where reasonably possible, explain the available options for addressing it.

Options may include rectification work, further investigation, upgrading existing electrical work or leaving the affected work untouched where permitted and safe to do so.

The customer will be responsible for deciding how they wish to proceed, subject to any work that FJ Projects is legally required to undertake, report or refuse.

Any additional work will be discussed and agreed before it is undertaken wherever reasonably possible.

11. Workmanship

FJ Projects stands behind the quality of its workmanship.

Where a defect is directly attributable to workmanship provided by FJ Projects, FJ Projects will, subject to applicable law, rectify the defective workmanship at no additional labour charge.

FJ Projects' workmanship commitment applies to the work performed by FJ Projects and does not extend to:

  • defects in products or materials;

  • normal wear and tear;

  • damage caused by misuse, accident or external factors;

  • alterations or repairs carried out by another person or contractor;

  • changes to the property or electrical system after FJ Projects has completed the work; or

  • issues outside the scope of FJ Projects' original work.

Where a product or material is defective, FJ Projects will assist the customer in addressing the issue where appropriate, including through the relevant supplier or manufacturer warranty.

Nothing in this section limits any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. Manufacturer and Supplier Warranties

Products supplied by FJ Projects may be covered by warranties provided by the relevant manufacturer or supplier.

Where applicable, FJ Projects may assist customers with warranty claims or replacement processes.

Manufacturer and supplier warranties are separate from FJ Projects' workmanship obligations.

The terms and duration of a manufacturer or supplier warranty may vary depending on the product.

13. Appointments and Bookings

Online bookings are requests for an appointment and may be subject to manual confirmation by FJ Projects.

An online booking time may represent a standard booking window rather than a guaranteed fixed duration of service.

The actual time required will depend on the work involved.

FJ Projects may contact the customer before confirming an appointment to clarify the requested work, availability, location or other relevant information.

14. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Customers are asked to provide at least 24 hours' notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.

Where less than 24 hours' notice is provided, or where a customer does not attend or provide access for a scheduled appointment, FJ Projects may charge the applicable call-out or non-attendance fee.

Any applicable charge will reflect the circumstances of the booking and will be communicated to the customer.

FJ Projects may waive or reduce a cancellation charge at its discretion where circumstances reasonably justify doing so.

15. Access to the Property

Customers are responsible for providing reasonable access to the property at the agreed appointment time.

Where FJ Projects attends a property and cannot obtain access, or access is significantly delayed, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.

If access is not provided within a reasonable period after the scheduled attendance time, FJ Projects may apply an additional attendance or call-out charge, provided the applicable charge has been communicated to the customer.

For larger projects, customers are responsible for ensuring that FJ Projects can reasonably access the areas required to complete the agreed work.

16. Delays and Unforeseen Circumstances

FJ Projects will make reasonable efforts to attend appointments and complete work within agreed timeframes.

However, delays may occur due to circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • unforeseen electrical or structural conditions;

  • access issues;

  • supplier or material delays;

  • weather;

  • other trades or contractors;

  • emergencies;

  • changes requested by the customer; or

  • circumstances affecting safety or legal compliance.

Where a significant delay or change occurs, FJ Projects will communicate this with the customer as soon as reasonably practicable.

17. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for providing accurate information about the property and requested work and informing FJ Projects of any known issues that may affect the job.

Customers must provide reasonable access to the property and any relevant areas, equipment, plans or information required for the agreed work.

Customers are also responsible for obtaining any approvals or permissions that are their responsibility as property owner, tenant or occupier.

18. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date.

For smaller jobs, FJ Projects may request payment upon completion or issue an invoice following completion.

For larger projects, staged or progress payments may be agreed in advance.

Payment requirements will be communicated to the customer before or during the engagement.

19. Overdue Payments

Where an invoice remains unpaid after the due date, FJ Projects may contact the customer to request payment.

FJ Projects reserves the right, where permitted by law, to recover reasonable costs associated with the collection of overdue amounts.

FJ Projects may also suspend or decline further non-urgent work for a customer where previous invoices remain unpaid.

Any applicable additional charges will be reasonable and permitted by applicable law.

20. Refunds

FJ Projects does not generally provide refunds for completed services where the work has been properly performed and the customer subsequently changes their mind.

This does not affect any rights the customer may have where services or products fail to meet applicable consumer guarantees or where a refund or other remedy is otherwise required by law.

Where a customer has paid for work that has not been completed, any refund will be considered having regard to the work already performed, materials purchased, costs incurred and the customer's rights under applicable law.

Where a refund is agreed or required, it will generally be processed using the original payment method where reasonably practicable.

21. Photos and Documentation

FJ Projects may take photographs or other records of electrical work for purposes including:

  • documenting the work completed;

  • maintaining project records;

  • assisting with compliance or warranty matters;

  • identifying existing conditions; and

  • responding to future service enquiries.

Where photographs are intended to be used publicly for marketing, advertising, social media or promotional purposes and the customer or their property is identifiable, FJ Projects will seek appropriate consent before doing so.

22. Other Contractors and Subcontractors

Where appropriate and permitted by applicable licensing and legal requirements, FJ Projects may engage suitably qualified and authorised contractors, tradespeople or specialists to assist with aspects of a project.

Where this materially affects the scope or cost of the customer's work, FJ Projects will communicate this with the customer.

23. Liability

FJ Projects will perform services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable legal and professional requirements.

To the extent permitted by law, FJ Projects is not responsible for loss or damage caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, pre-existing conditions, defective customer-supplied products, unauthorised alterations, misuse or the actions of third parties.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful or would otherwise breach the Australian Consumer Law.

24. Consumer Guarantees

Our services and any products we supply are subject to applicable consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, cancellation or other remedy where a service or product does not meet applicable consumer guarantees.

These Terms & Conditions do not limit those rights.

25. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

If you have a concern about our services, invoice or project, please contact FJ Projects as soon as reasonably possible.

We will make a genuine effort to understand the issue and work with you to reach a reasonable resolution.

Where appropriate, we may request photographs, documentation, invoices, job records or other information to help assess the issue.

If a matter cannot be resolved directly, either party may pursue any dispute resolution or legal process available under applicable law.

28. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Western Australia.

Any dispute will be subject to the applicable courts and tribunals of Western Australia, subject to any rights or dispute resolution processes available under applicable law.
